Wisconsin Meeting:

Speaker: Looney Goman
Topic:
Trophy Walleyes & Whitefish Through the Ice

Lonney Goman, owner of Trophy Ice Fish will be speaking to us at our December meeting in Wisconsin. Lonney is well know by a good number of our club members and several have spent time on the ice with him.

He and his team of professional guides specialize in ice fishing the waters of Green Bay & the Sturgeon Bay areas. Their team is nationally recognized for locating & catching trophy Walleyes. Catching trophy Walleyes through the ice can be a challenging and rewarding experience. Whether you’re an experienced ice angler or a novice to the sport, their team uses aggressive search tactics to locate Walleyes. They strategize on fishing key locations and jigging techniques. How to effectively use electronics (Vexilar fish flasher) , and the proper procedures used for icing big Walleyes. Due to gin clear water and their built-in night vision, Walleyes are typically fished in short windows at sunrise and sunset periods when the they are at the height of their predatory nature.

With the abundance of forage, (round gobies, zebra mussels, plantains, and bloodworms) the Great Lakes are inundated and are skyrocketing with the population of Whitefish. The Great Lakes Whitefish are in the Cisco family and are the leaner cousin to the Tuliby, Herring, Bluefin, and Lake Chub. Anglers of all ages, including the non-experienced who love to pull up one fish after another, will find the Whitefish fun and intriguing to catch all day long.

Lonney will be talking to us about targeting big Walleyes and Whitefish through the ice. What a great time of year to begin thinking about getting on the ice and having a chance at landing a true trophy. Certainly a meeting that will be a rewarding experience for all that attend. Illinois Meeting: Gurnee American Legion | 749 Milwaukee Ave. | Gurnee, IL 60031
Date: Wednesday, December 28, 2016
Speaker: NO FORMAL SPEAKER
Topic: ILLINOIS SWAP NIGHT

The last Walleyes Unlimited USA meeting of the year will be dedicated to information and fishing equipment/tackle sharing at our usual meeting place, the American Legion Hall in Gurnee. The meeting will begin at our regular time, 7:00 pm.

There is no formal agenda and no speaker. This will be another opportunity to share information and equipment/tackle with your fellow club members and a chance to prepare for the 2017 fishing season. So come join your fellow club members and participate in our last meeting of the year. What a good opportunity to get out of the house during the holiday season. We heard through the grapevine that Orawiec might clean out his garage and hire a semi to deliver the unused items!

The format for this meeting will include areas for members to set up information and fishing equipment/tackle sharing stations. In the past at these types of meetings, members have shared fishing locations and information on their favorite lakes including marking your maps, demonstrated rigging techniques, and swapped/sold fishing equipment and tackle.

Jerry Zegar is organizing this event, so if you want to demonstrate something, share information, or sell/swap equipment, please contact Jerry at 847-361-7543 or email him at jerryzegar@hotmail.com.
